Learning objective 1: MOVE IT Activities from PE and O&M--Keep your body moving and your cane skills sharp!

Learning objective 2: this video (8 minutes, 29 seconds) presented by Dr. Cliff Olson, Doctor of Audiology, discusses the pros and cons of bone conduction headphones, which are worn outside of the ear. When traveling outside and listening to your phone or other device giving directions, information about businesses around you, or other GPS navigational information, using bone conduction headphones may be a good option to keep your ears open and therefore be more aware of traffic and other environmental sounds.

Learning objective 3: listen to HomeBound For Adventure, a weekly podcast to help O&M students stay connected and engaged while quarantined. Made and hosted by Tracy Spohn, an O&M teacher in Washington State, there is a new episode available each Wednesday morning until the end of the school year. Episode 1 (April 14) “Community”; Episode 2 (April 22) “Landmarks and Clues; “Episode 3 (April 29) “Measurements and Maps Part 1”; Episode 4 (May 6) “Measurements and Maps Part 2”; Episode 5 (May 13) “White Canes”; Episode 6 (May 20) “Types of Transportation”. Each episode is between 10-20 minutes long.

Learning objective 4: BlindSquare, a popular navigation app for the iPhone, is partnering with NaviLens in the app BlindSquare EVENT. It is being offered for FREE from now until mid-November to help people with vision loss more easily and safely navigate their environment during this unprecedented health crisis. The BlindSquare EVENT app is now available in the app store.
